Gluten-Free Recipes
I wanted to experiment with gluten-free eating since my mom is allergic to wheat and since through my studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition I read about a number of health problems that can clear up when one lays off the wheat! I have been off gluten now for the past 3 months. For years I have suffered from frequent canker sores (at least once a month) — and since ditching gluten I have been canker-sore-free! The most helpful resource for gluten-free recipes I have found is a blog Gluten Free Girl and the Chef. I encourage you to try her gluten free pancakes (scroll down for the recipe) and/or her Ooey-Gooey Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. We’ve been enjoying them especially over the holidays! Enjoy!

The Story of Cap and Trade
On December 4th I head to Copenhagen and will be present as world leaders discuss ways forward on climate change. Based on recent economic bubbles and the poor health of the global economy, especially for people in less industrialized countries, I have concerns about some of the most popular solutions. I highly recommend The Story of Cap & Trade, a fast-paced, fact-filled look at the leading climate solution being discussed at Copenhagen and on Capitol Hill. Host Annie Leonard introduces the energy traders and Wall Street financiers at the heart of this scheme and reveals the “devils in the details” in current cap and trade proposals: free permits to big polluters, fake offsets and distraction from what’s really required to tackle the climate crisis. If you’ve heard about Cap & Trade, but aren’t sure how it works (or who benefits), this is the film is for you.
